2011 Rowan Creek Clean-up
The Friends of Rowan Creek will be hosting their annual Earth Day Rowan Creek Clean-Up on Saturday April 23, 2011. We’d like to take this opportunity to invite all the residents of Poynette and the surrounding areas to join us. Rowan Creek is one of the jewels of Columbia County and we’re fortunate to have it right here and our backyard. What a great opportunity to put the slogan “Poynette...Naturally!” into action. It will be a great time to get a little dirty and have some good clean fun. Meet old friends and make new ones. Everyone is welcome; adults and kids, moms and dads, teens and grandparents. We can find a place for everyone. All you need is a positive attitude. Meet us at the picnic shelter at Paquette Park at 9:00. The Conservation Club from the high school will provide lunch. Bring work gloves and wear old clothes; rubber boots couldn’t hurt. We’ll be cleaning up unless the weather is especially bad, so dress for the weather! If the weather doesn’t cooperate we’ll try again the following Saturday. Help us make this the biggest year ever! In addition to the creek clean-up, we’ve been asked if we can help the DNR with a savanna restoration project at the west end of the property. If folks are interested we can take that on after lunch.
